“tweet up” at the Stile

Hi everyone,

In the interests of networking and getting to know people better, as discussed in your blog posts, you are all most welcome to come to our “tweetup” at the Stile pub from 4.30pm on Wednesday 2nd December.

The expression “tweetup” just means that it has been organised via Twitter, but you don’t need to be a Twitter user to come along and meet other people from the University.

I hope to see you there!

Thanks
Lisa

Next tutee meeting

Hi everyone,

Our next meeting will be on 1st December:

Group A 1pm
Group B 1.30pm
Group C 2pm
Group D 2.30pm

BEFORE this meeting, your task is to post a progress report on your blog, focusing on the efforts you have made to make new connections here at Southampton, either with people on your programme, other programmes, or in the University or local community more widely, or online via social networks such as Facebook or LinkedIn. These connections may be social, or to do with your study, or for future career planning. We will then discuss your posts and share ideas in our meeting on 1st December.

Thanks
Lisa

Career Destinations

Hi everyone - I’ve checked through all your ‘reflection’ blogposts again and hopefully I have replied to everyone, either in person or via a comment. There are still 3 people who have not yet posted…you know who you are…I will be checking regulalry to ensure you keep your promises on this.

A couple of points have come up in the discussions that are worth sharing with you all:

1. the value of study groups - if you have not yet participated, make sure that you do!
2. the resources available from Career Destinations This includes a list of upcoming careers events, as well as current job vacancies.

Thanks
Lisa

Good to see you all today

I hope I managed to speak with you all individually about your blogs today, and that you are all clear about the next step, which is to write a post reflecting on your experiences at Southampton so far, for discussion at the next meeting on 4th November.

Tracy has made a great job of setting up her blog to include a number of useful links to other resources. She says:

“Thanks! it’s my pleasure if you would like to highlight this as an example.
I am willing to assist the students who need my help. please attach my email cip1e09@soton.ac.uk.”

So please get in touch with Tracy if you would like to follow her example.

Thanks
Lisa

Getting started with blogging

If you are new to blogging, you may like to watch this great introductory video:

Blogging in Plain English

As well as writing your own blog posts, you should make sure that you follow the blogs of people who write material that is useful to you (and, of course, you can comment on their work too). A very useful blog to get you started as an example of great people to follow is Online Marketing Guru Dave Chaffey And of course Seth Godin
