Assessment across the programme

For Part 1 of the MSc, you will complete 7 core modules and 1 or 2 optional module(s). This is a total of 120 CAT points or 66% of your final grade.

Each piece of coursework is worth a percentage of the module’s overall grade, and each module is worth a percentage of your overall award, as broken down below.

Your mark for any one module is calculated by aggregating across all assessments for that module (e.g. coursework and exam).  The pass mark for all modules is 50.  To pass a module your aggregate mark must achieve this pass mark.

You will then also complete a dissertation (Part 2 of the MSc), which is 60 CAT points or 34% of your final grade.  PSYC 6022 is assessed by examination of the dissertation report, which is marked using the Marking Scheme described in this handbook. The dissertation forms the largest single component of the MSc, and consists of an original piece of research, designed, executed and written up according to guidelines, in a report of 10,000 words accounting for 100% of the marks for this module. This work is carried out by students under individual supervision. The dissertation must be submitted electronically via e-assignments.
