Relevant Committees

Staff Student Liaison Committee (SSLC)

This committee is one of the most important for students. It provides a forum for communication between the students and staff in the Academic Unit. These committees have the role of monitoring the organisation and management of the student programmes, to note any difficulties that students may be encountering, and to take advice about ways of improving the programmes. It allows you to express your views and any concerns that you may have, either in person at the meetings or via the students representatives for Year One, for Year Two, and for Year Three. In Social Sciences, there are Academic-Unit level SSLCs and also individual SSLCs for the different divisions within Social Sciences (for example, SSPC). Meetings are held a couple of times a year. You will be informed of the contact details of your student representatives (upon confirmation) and when minutes of SSLC meetings are available.

Through Union Southampton you will be invited to elect your faculty representatives (Faculty Leaders, Academic Presidents and Course Representatives) who co-ordinate the student voice on Faculty committees to enable your voice to be heard.
