Dissertation

In Year Three, all BSc Criminology and Psychology students complete a Dissertation (CRIM3013). A supervisor will oversee completion of both parts of the Project, providing instruction, guidance, and feedback at various stages.

In addition, there will be 4 workshops attended by various academic staff from Psychology and Criminology. These sessions are designed to help you to bridge the two subject areas and produce a dissertation that is suitable for a BPS accredited degree.

Information about Supervision

During your third year, your Empirical Project is supervised by a member of academic staff in the School of SSPC. The allocation of your Project Supervisor is linked to your second year research module, SOCI2020 Research Skills. The Psychology Academic Unit also provides an advisory service in Psychology-based Empirical Projects. You will be notified when the advisory sessions will run in your final year. It is highly recommended that you make the most of the support that both Academic Units offer you during the completion of your Empirical Project: Literature Review and Research Paper.

Overall, your Supervisor will support you in successfully designing and producing two significant independent assignments, that will constitute your Empirical Project. They will help you to achieve your full potential.

It is important to remember that it is your responsibility to arrange individual contact time with your Supervisor.
