Year Two

Your second year allows you to cover the required curriculum to gain British Psychological Society (BPS) accreditation. In your second year, you will build on Year One material and study more core Psychology topics (such as PSYC2021 and PSYC2007) and qualitative and quantitative research methods (PSYC2019 and SOCI2020), in order to be well prepared for your final year, when you will conduct your own research as part of your Empirical Project. You will also study Criminology modules that will illuminate how crime and deviance have been perceived and addressed in modern society.

These pages will introduce you to:

  • Year Two Modules (including important information on signing up to “optional” modules).
  • The Psychology Academic Unit’s Research Participation Scheme in Year Two.
  • Information on how to progress to Year Three and your options if you do not meet these criteria.

It is important to note that the marks you achieve in Year Two contribute towards ONE-THIRD of your final degree classification and grade. However, you must meet the specified standards in order to be able to progress into your third year of study and to attain BPS accreditation.
