School of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology

The Murray Building

Welcome to Social Sciences: the School of Sociology, Social Policy & Criminology…

Social Scientists at the University of Southampton explore and work together on many interdisciplinary topics. Our Criminologists, Sociologists and academics in Anthropology and Social Policy, explore a wide range of issues in their work and question how society works and how it is evolving.

Our research was ranked third in the country in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise. We host a range of programmes in Sociology, Social Policy, Criminology and Anthropology. Our academics from these disciplines explore topical areas, such as crime, education, work and social inequality. This research informs their teaching, so you will be learning directly from specialists about these fascinating subjects.
