Module evaluations

You can use eFolio to create your end of semester student module evaluations.

The process for this is simple

  1. Login to eFolio and choose the appropriate module from the ‘My Modules’ list
  2. Click on the ‘Module Evaluation’ tab
  3. Tick the ‘Enable online student feedback for this module’ and if applicable add a start and end date for when this will be available to students.
  4. A questionnaire is then created for you automatically in iSurvey and:
    1. All teaching staff are added to be rated (automatic process)
    2. All teaching staff are added as editors of the iSurvey
    3. All department admin staff are also added as editors so they can access the data
  5. When the time window opens (or immediately if no dates are given) students will see a large ‘Submit module evaluation’ for this module on the front page of eFolio

Editing your questionnaire and accessing data

You can log into iSurvey to add of edit any of your questions, and also access and download your data.

Questionnaires created in this fashion get a new menu item in iSurvey which is ‘Student List’.

This shows the list of students, along with indicators of who and who hasn’t submitted their feedback. This information is only available if at least five students have given feedback (to guarantee anonymity)

Sending email reminders to students

Within iSurvey you can visit the ‘Student List’ for this questionnaire to send a reminder email to those students who have yet to submit their questionnaire. Please note this feature can only be used once for each module to prevent ‘spamming’ student email accounts.

Important note: Typical response rates from ALL online module evaluations are around 20-50%. It is up to your Academic Unit to determine if the time saved in processing paper responses makes up for the drop in student responses.
