About me

I joined the University in May 2014, after working in Further Education as a Head of Creative Arts which included Gaming & Computing, Art and Design, Performing Arts and Music for seven years. My focus was on teaching & learning, working to ensure every student had a rich, broad and exciting experience throughout their programme of study. In 2012 I launched a yearly festival of new technology and gaming, inviting students throughout the region to bring their ideas to life and take control of their learning.

Initially, I trained as a filmmaker, working in feature film production before moving to the BBC and into documentary. I worked for BBC People as a Content Producer for Informal Learning, creating online films on subjects as diverse as philosophy, journalism, values and ethics.  My role with the ILIaD Media Development team is to create engaging, high quality content that supports academics, whether video, multimedia, audio or enhanced learning packages. ILIaD Media Development staff have produced work for Moocs, online courses and all aspects of teaching & learning. In particular, I am interested in encouraging students to use media for assignment submission and to evidence learning.

My links to FE remain and I regularly talking to colleagues about their adoption of the learning technologies into the curriculum. I am a member of the TEL Board within the University and member of ALTMELSIG and ELESIG.

I recently became a Parent Governor at Harrison Primary School in Fareham.

I live on the South Coast, regularly plunge into the Solent for a cold swim and enjoy the craziness and love of my little family.
