A Short Biography

 

 

Jose A. Alvarez-Chavez, PhD is a visiting Professor at University of Twente, Optical Sciences Group in the Netherlands, working on the development of narrow-linewidth micro ring lasers for applications in medicine and sensors.

 

His research interests include: High-power fibre lasers and amplifiers for medicine, telecomm, sensing and later material procesing applications, and both theoretical and experimental work on passive and active fibre-based devices.

 

J.A. Alvarez-Chavez has worked in the USA, Uk and Mexico, with >20 years of experience in Photonics and Fibre Optics.

 

He obtained a PhD at the Optoelectronics Research Centre – Southampton University in 2003, a MSc in Telecommunications at CICESE in 1997 and a BEng degree in Electro-Mechanics at UNAM in 1994.
