On 27 October, Kate Hill, the female lawmaker of the United States, has resigned her affair from Congress, because of her private life. Before, she admitted involving in an improper relationship with the staff of the Congress.
From Hill’s Twitter, she said that her resignation is the hardest thing she has ever had to do, but she believes it is the best thing for her constituents, her community, and her country. It is expected to resign in the week.
Last week, Hill apologized that she had an “inappropriate” relationship with a female campaign, but this relationship took place before Hill’s election of a member of Parliament, and Congress does not have jurisdiction to govern. The House of Representatives Ethics Committee is investigating the event between her and a congressional male worker, but she denied their relationship.
Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the United States House of Representatives, claimed that she brought “a powerful commitment to her community and a bright vision for the future” to the House, although she has acknowledged errors in judgment that made her continued service as a Member untenable. Therefore, the Committee must ensure a climate of integrity and dignity in Congress, and all workplaces.
The Daily Mail has reported that she had complicated triangular relationships with her ex-husband, Kenny Heslep, and another female campaign staff member, Morgan Desjardins. However, Hill thought that it is illegal and accuse that the media had posted a private picture without any consent, and she called every individual to respect others’ privacy. In a letter to the voters, Hill admitted that, in the last few years, she is married but is estranged from what she called her “abusive” husband. Then, she had a separate relationship with the campaign staff. Besides, her husband said that he had wanted a divorce with her at the beginning of this year.
Ms. Hill has represented the 25th district in southern California since 2018, when she was elected as part of a Democratic wave. And she was also vice-chairwoman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, which has been investigating President Donald Trump’s financial dealings. In addition, she previously worked as executive director of non-profit organization People Assisting the Homeless. Finally, she referred, “now, my fight is going to be to defeat this type of exploitation that so many women are victims too and which will keep countless women and girls from running for office or entering public light”.
