Showcase countdown: Our partnership with schools

It is always lovely to hear what the professionals think of the LifeLab approach. So much of what we do is embedded in education, so here is what the teachers think of what we do…

Nadine Cullum is a teacher from Oasis Mayfield, a supporter of the LifeLab project for several years. She said: “I am extremely passionate about teaching our students the importance of healthy living and the science behind it.  I have had the pleasure of working with the LifeLab team over the last 6 years and have found it to be an invaluable project that really engages young people with science.  It is crucial that we effectively teach students about non-communicable diseases and their risk factors, assisting them with positive lifestyle choices.

“I am adamant that all young people should have an opportunity to benefit from LifeLab and the potential and scope for the project to expand, reaching other age groups and transforming lives, is enormous.”

Becky Clarke, a teacher from Noadswood school who will also be at the Showcase event this Wednesday, described how her students had benefited from the project.

She said: “LifeLab has allowed our Year 9 students to get a hands on view of healthcare, take responsibility for their own choices and learn about possible career options for the future. a fabulous local resource that we will return to as often as we are allowed!”
