In Year 4 and 5 can the same person sign you off three times for the same competency? And does this have to be at three different times/dates? Further information regarding sign offs
Ideally we would expect three different professionals to sign you off on different days for each clinical skill but we appreciate the need to be realistic about this given the nature and supervision of attachments and the limited opportunities that may be available for some of the clinical competencies. Similarly from a strictly educational perspective, it is good to have different observers in order to get a clear and consistent understanding of each clinical skill but we understand that that is not always practical or possible.
For this reason we will accept the same professional signing off a student or indeed the procedure being all signed off on the same day as long as it is clear that these are entirely separate procedures and patient encounters.
