What do I do if the healthcare professional can’t recall their NMC/GMC registration number?
All doctors should know their GMC numbers and it is likely that nurses will know their NMC number too. If the healthcare professional does not have their registration number to hand, their name, grade/job title, and location (Ward and Trust) should be recorded in case we wish to contact them. Similarly, HCAs don’t have a registration number so if it is an HCA who has signed you off, you should record name and location as described above to ensure traceability. Kassel students may be exempted from providing a “registration number” as there is no equivalence to a GMC number in Germany.
